Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use the Windsor Trans Supply Library?

The library is for all transgender, non-binary, two-spirt, gender-diverse, and queer people in Windsor-Essex region. For folks just outside Windsor-Essex (i.e., Chatham-Kent), please contact us for availability. Supply delivery may not be available outside the Windsor-Essex region. If you are outside our service area, please consult the resource spreadsheet to find services near you.

There is no limit on the times you can use the library if you are planning multiple procedures.

What kind of services do you offer?

We maintain a library of post-operative supplies for folks to borrow for the duration of their recovery at no cost, as well as a small supply of consumable items. We also offer a collection of gender gear (binders, gaffs, etc.,), and have limited funds to purchase new items for folks who need it.

Do you accept donations?

Yes! The library runs on donations of items and funds. We accept post-op supplies in useable condition, as well as gender gear, and monetary donations. Contact us to arrange a pickup/dropoff, or to donate funds. We may accept donations from outside Windsor-Essex, subject to availability.

What if I need an item not offered by the library?

Contact us to suggest a new item, and we will try our best to make it happen.

How long can I borrow the items?

Top surgery items are lent for a period of 4 weeks.
Bottom surgery items are lent for a period of 12 weeks.
Other surgeries (i.e., facial feminization surgery, breast augmentation, body feminization/masculinization surgery) - 4 weeks.
If having multiple procedures, the duration of lending defaults to the longer one (i.e., if having bottom surgery and breast augmentation at the same time, the lending period is 12 weeks)
Single-use items (i.e., pads, liners, baby wipes) and gender gear are yours to keep.

What if I need the items for longer?

We will prioritize folks who are borrowing the items for the first time, but please contact us to see if a renewal is possible.

I borrowed items, but now I need to borrow some more.

Please fill out another request form, or contact us with what you need.

I borrowed items but need to return them early.

We're happy to pick it up from you a bit earlier than excepted.

I don't have a car, can I still use the library?

Of course, we are happy to deliver the items to you in Windsor-Essex region and pick them up when you're done with them. We're also happy to pick up any donations you may have.

What happens if the item I want is not available?

We can place you on a waitlist and notify you when it is available. We can hopefully get enough donations to keep a good flow of items going in the future! In the meantime, check out our stocklist to see when items might be back.

How you do maintain the cleanliness of the items?

Due to the nature of libraries, it is not possible to receive new items every time. All hard items will be cleaned with soap and water, as well as a clinical-grade disinfectant. All soft items will be laundered with a generic laundry soap. Please clean and launder all items before returning (to the best of your ability). Items are stored and processed in a pet and smoke-free household. Please let us know if you have any specific allergies.

Oops, I lost, broke, or stained my item(s).

Please try not to do this, as the library is donation-run. That being said, we will not make you pay for a replacement if you do not have the means to do so.

Who are you and why are you doing this?

We are a team of two neurodivergent queer ladies (one chaos gremlin and one transfemme meow) who love random side quests.

I want to start my own trans supply library.

Great! Windsor Trans Supply Library started with the support of Hamilton Trans Supply Library, and operates with a similar model. Check them out here, they offer guidance and support on starting your own chapter.

I have other questions/feedback/ideas.
